About This Course

The past decades have been exciting ones in bioinformatics. A plethora of genomes has been sequenced and analysed for regions that explain the biological phenomenon. Analyses include transcriptome sequencing that facilitated wide gene expression profiling, synteny analysis, and linking sequenced genomes with phenotypes. In this online course, we introduce the core bioinformatic competencies and resources, such as genome sequencing, gene annotation, classification by ontology, genome synteny, genome evolution, genome architecture, transcriptome analysis by RNAseq, proteomics, and phylogenomics. Subsequently, we introduce the use of programming languages such as python, R, and Bash to aid the analysis of large genomics data.
