Metabolomics is the youngest of the ‘omics’. In this course, an overview of metabolomics and its different experimental targeted and untargeted workflows will be given. In combination with other omics, analysis of metabolites allows us to get a snapshot of life. Metabolomics requires a lot of work from sample preparation to data analysis, but they have limitless applications!

About This Course

In this course, a basic introduction to metabolomics will be given followed by a typical experimental workflow in a targeted and an untargeted metabolomics approach. Metabolite separation techniques and how different instruments and technical approaches are used in metabolomics. The course will also provide insight into data analysis methods and tools in addition to the real-world applications of metabolomics.

Who Is This Course For

Metabolomics, the apogee of the ‘omics’ trilogy has allowed us to take a snapshot of life. If you have a background in life sciences, getting ready for a postgraduate degree, or entering the pharma industry, then this course is for you. Metabolomics has advanced our understanding of the most complex processes of life and has become highly valuable in recent years especially when you combine it with other omics. This course is particularly useful for anyone interested in analytics and joining the chemical or pharmaceutical industry, where all the ‘omics’ techniques are highly valued.

What you'll learn

  • Understand what is metabolomics
  • Learn how to design a metabolomics experiment in different approaches
  • Understand how metabolites can be separated for analysis
  • Understand the instruments used in metabolomics
  • Gain an insight into the analysis of metabolomics data
  • Understand real-life applications of metabolomics
