Meet Your Instructor
Dr. Alison Monroe
Alison is a marine biologist with a Ph.D. in marine science from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. She studies the effect of climate change on marine organisms, specifically those that live in threatened coral reef ecosystems. Her recent work uses molecular tools such as transcriptomics and proteomics to research how fish might acclimate to future climate scenarios. She spent much of the past 6 years exploring the beautiful and diverse coral reefs of Saudi Arabia and helped document one of the first mass coral bleaching events in the Red Sea.
