The animal experimentation course covers the UK regulations regarding animals used for scientific or training purposes. The course is following the ASPA guidance (Animals Scientific Procedures Act 1986) in an easier way for everyone to understand. It covers the UK organisation in place for people using animals in regulated procedures. The course covers the responsibilities of everyone working with animals and the mandatory processes to follow when working with animals. At the end of the course, you will be able to understand the roles and responsibilities of each and everyone working with animals and what are the protected animals and regulated procedures. You will also be able to understand what licences are needed and how to apply for them.

This course is for anyone interested in UK regulations regarding animal experiments. This course is particularly useful if you are about to work in a research environment using animal models. With this course, you will have extended knowledge of the UK regulations and will help you to pass your personal licence. It is not necessary to have knowledge of biology or life sciences to understand this course, anyone with an interest in animal experimentation can follow this course.

Meet Your Instructor

Dr. Alice Arcourt

Alice holds a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from Heidelberg University, Germany. During her Ph.D., she mainly studied the contribution and specificity of primary sensory neurons involved in acute pain signalling. After her Ph.D., she moved to London and focused on neurodevelopment at King’s College London. She developed strong expertise in neurophysiology, optogenetics, immunohistochemistry, and animal behaviour. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals including Neuron, a well-established journal in the field of neuroscience.
