Dr. Mai Shafei

Mai holds a PhD in Cancer Metabolism from the University of the West of England, UK. Her PhD focused on dysregulated cell metabolism in particular the role branched-chain aminotransferase proteins in the progression of breast cancer. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals including Oncotarget. After her PhD, she moved to Sheffield for a post-doctoral research position at the University of Sheffield investigating mechanisms by which epithelial tissues shape and polarize using the mammary gland as a model system. She has developed strong expertise in biochemistry, breast cancer, cell biology and cell signalling pathways.
