The animal experimentation course covers the UK regulations regarding animal used for scientific or training purposes. The course is following the ASPA guidance (Animals Scientific Procedures Act 1986) in an easier way for everyone to understand. It covers the UK organisation in place for people using animals in regulated procedures. The course covers the responsibilities of everyone working with animals and the mandatory processes to follow when working with animals. At the end of the course, you will be able to understand the roles and responsibilities of each and everyone working with animals, what are the protected animals and regulated procedures. You will also be able understand what licences are needed and how to apply to them.

Meet Your Instructor

Dr. Alice Arcourt

Alice holds a PhD in Neuropharmacology from Heidelberg University, Germany. During her PhD, she mainly studied the contribution and specificity of primary sensory neurons involved in acute pain signalling. After her PhD, she moved to London and focused on neurodevelopment at King’s College London. She developed strong expertise in neurophysiology, optogenetics, immunohistochemistry and animal behaviour. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals including Neuron, a well-established journal in the field of neuroscience.
